About the RLC Sports Hall of Fame

Rend Lake College Sports Hall of Fame Logo

Sports Hall formed in Fall ’99 to honor valued contributors

College officials interested in the establishment of a Sports Hall of Fame for Rend Lake College chose seven individuals in Summer 1999 to serve on a Steering Committee. It was the responsibility of this Steering Committee, headed by Wayne Arnold, to formulate the Sports Hall of Fame Constitution and By-Laws.

Members of the committee also serve as a subcommittee for the Selection Committee. With approval from the College President and Vice President of Student Services, the Steering Committee is responsible for helping to select and order plaques for the Sports Hall of Fame, make arrangements for Induction Ceremonies
and determine those individuals who make up the Selection Committee.

The Constitution and By-Laws were approved by the RLC Board in Fall 1999. Four Charter Members were admitted during inaugural Induction Ceremonies April 15, 2000 on the RLC Ina campus.

The purpose of the Sports Hall of Fame is to recognize those individuals and/or teams who, through leadership and character, have made exceptional contributions
to the honor and prestige of Rend Lake College in the field of athletics and who have continued to demonstrate the values learned through participation in  intercollegiate athletics in their daily lives.

The RLC Sports Hall of Fame includes 40 student-athletes, three coaches and four sports professionals/alumni coaches), 11 teams and four track relay teams.

The RLC Sports Hall of Fame is located in the lobby area of the Aquatics Center, which also serves as the entrance to James (Hummer) Waugh Gymnasium.

Rend Lake College congratulates members of its Sports Hall of Fame, acknowledges their contributions to society in the years since they were here and thanks those who played a role in making the HOF a reality.
