Induction Ceremony - April 22, 2017

Danielle Kaufman | Women's Golf (2003-2005)

Third-Team All-America honors as Freshman after placing 12th overall (tied) in 2004 NJCAA Championships despite battling serious leg issues. Following off-season surgery, tied for 20th in Finals and helped Coach Cindy Corn’s balanced crew improve one notch to best-ever fourth in 2005.

⭐ Helped set 18- (316) and 36-hole (636) team records that Fall at Illinois Wesleyan Invite and medalist in Spring as RLC claimed McKendree Invite.

⭐ Her 84-79-84-81–328 Freshman NJCAA scorecard, one better than teammate Mia van Rooyen, got boost with Day Two hole-in-one on 131-yard No. 13 in Florida – second ace ever in Women’s Nationals – and lifted RLC to No. 5 rank.

⭐ During same season “Goose” set Rend Lake Golf Course Women’s Record with a 68 playing from Gold Tees (5,922 yards).

⭐ Sophomore season team tied its 36-hole mark at Illinois Wesleyan in Fall and set new standards in Spring, repeating win in McKendree Invite by 30 with 319-313–632.

⭐ Two strokes behind teammate Surita Risseeuw in Region with 80-79–159, when team broke record by 17 shots and won by 46 with 645. Carded 81-84-87-83–335 in NJCAAs. ⭐ Signed with SIUE, later played for SIUC.

⭐ Returned as Lady Warrior Assistant Coach in Golf (2009-12) and Softball (2015-17).

Rich Campbell | Baseball coach (1992-2001)

Only mentor in first 50 years of RLC baseball to lead charges to two Region championships. Ditto for three Section titles.

⭐ Had he stuck around for one more year before being lured away by the business world, “Soup” could have become program’s biggest winner as well. His 302-225 record (.573) in nine seasons ranks second to the 10-year 312-177 mark of HOF Charter Member Mike McClure.

⭐ Named Louisville Slugger Region XXIV “Coach of Year” following 1997 and ’99 spring campaigns.

⭐ Recruited / coached at least 64 players who continued their careers at four-year level or signed professional contracts. Among those standouts – Infielders Dan DeMent (1996-98) and Mike Breyman (2000-02), who preceded him into the Hall of Fame in Spring and Fall 2009 ceremonies. Yet another inductee, Pitcher Craig Sands (1987-89 / HOF 2013), served as his Assistant Coach two seasons.

⭐ First team in ’92-93 dropped post-season opener before dominating foes 10-2, 11-1, 9-5 and 4-1 to end six-year Section drought.

⭐ DeMent and youthful ’96-97 squad finished 39-19 after 57-hit barrage in three games led to Region crown and runner-up finish behind Indian Hills (IA) in Great Lakes District.

⭐ His 37-22 champs in ’98-99 featured aces Neal Frendling and Zack Brinson, along with a potent offensive lineup, but could not advance out of Northern District Tourney it hosted.

⭐ Also noteworthy: 35-14 in ’95-96; 33-17 in ’97-98; three GRAC runner-up finishes.

⭐ Married ex-Lady Warrior softball player Karen Liggett in Fall 1997.

Record-Setting 25-7 Warrior Men's Basketball Team

Perhaps this says it all about the second Warrior Basketball squad to merit induction into the RLC Sports Hall of Fame . . . No Individual Records were established by members of the 1983-84 Warriors; as a whole, Coach Mitch Haskins & Co. finished 25-7 and set nine Team Records. Mix a deep roster of talented players with outstanding Team Chemistry and the dynamics are perfect for HOF-caliber results.

⭐ For the record: Most Games Won - 25; Highest Winning % - .781; Consecutive Games Won - 9; Free Throws Made - 587; F.T. Attempted - 790; F.T. % - .743; Greatest Average Margin of Victory - 16.0; Greatest Margin of Victory - 74 (RLC 108, Clements Job Corps 34); Greatest Margin of Victory / Community College Opponent - 57 (RLC 97, Oakton C.C. 40).

⭐ It is not a stretch to make it 10 Team Records, since nine team members were key freshmen components on ’82-83 contingent responsible for Best Defensive Average - 62.3. And do not forget a 400th career win for Warrior Chief Haskins.

⭐ As freshmen, 6-foot-2 Second-Team All-GRAC F Robby Jones, 6-3 G Jeff Cochren, 6-2 G Travis Helm, 6-3 G Dean Merder, 6-4 F Jim Price, 6-6 F Jamie Raley, 6-9 C Jeff Wilkinson, 6-0 G Tim Wills and 6-8 C Barry Wright helped produce first-ever Section III Tourney title, third-place Region XXIV showing and then-record 22-13 mark.

⭐ As sophs, All-Region / All-GRAC Price and All-GRAC Wills were joined by their seven best friends, plus transfers 6-5 F Todd Stoermer and 6-5 F Mark Kerley, freshmen 6-4 F Derrick Leonard, 6-5 F Kevin Riggan, 6-1 G Fred Taylor, 5-10 G William Watts and redshirt Garrett Miller to form a formidable bond. Four losses were to teams which qualified for NJCAA Finals, and their three GRAC s

etbacks were by a total of five points, two in o.t. (83-81 and 84-82 to powerhouse Wabash Valley).

⭐ Won Land of Lincoln Holiday Classic and RLC-Pepsi Classic.

⭐ Scoring leaders – MVP Price 16.3 ppg, Cochren 9.8, Helm 9.8, Raley 8.8, Stoermer 8.0; Wills and Jones 9.8 as frosh. Rebounds – Price 6.5, Raley 4.8, Wright 4.1, Stoermer and Jones 3.8 (6.1 as freshman). Assists – Wills 8.2.

⭐ Ten of the sophomores signed and/or played at four-year level after graduation, still an all-time high.

⭐ Wills, who started every game for two seasons averaging 32:33 / game, returned to serve as Head Coach for 18 seasons (1992-93 - 2009-10) and Athletic Director.
