INA, Ill. (January 9, 2025) — The Lady Warriors Softball team heads into the 2025 season with high expectations. Coach Matt Knox is heading into his fourth season as head coach and the Lady Warriors are looking for big things. They finished the 2024 campaign with a 13-29 record but were in a lot of those games they lost and with a good group of returners the season outlook is bright.

The Lady Warriors will be led by the Sophomore battery of Gabrielle Overturf and Addyson Trout. Overturf will once again lead the way in the circle and Trout behind the plate. “We have a chance every time Gabi is in the circle," said Knox. "She and Addy have been working together for many years so that really gives us an advantage.” Bringing depth to the circle is Sophomore Haley Friederich, Freshman Natalie Feather and Julianna Huber.

Offense will be led by Sophomores Ella Bequette, OF Friederich, 1B Avi Tomas and OF Patrice Laur.  “These sophomores have been really good leaders for us this Fall and in the offseason and we look forward to them leading the way in the Spring,” said Knox. Skylar Hudson is a transfer student that brings some experience to the team as a C and infielder.

The Freshman class is led by middle infielders Taylor Ash and Emma Boyer. They will bring some good defense, speed and offense to the table for the Lady Warriors. Feather and Huber will help in the circle and will be options at the hot corner as well. Carsyn Clark will battle for playing time at 1B along with Tomas and they look to give the Lady Warriors some RBIs. Alexis Eggemeyer and Addison Harris are very strong outfield options and will push for playing time early in the season. Hallie Huffman brings some speed to the plate and is a versatile player on the field being able to play behind the plate and in the outfield.

“We have a lot of good team chemistry so far and we are excited to get on the field this season,” said Bequette“We have really worked hard in the offseason and are looking forward to going to the tournament in Florida.”

The Lady Warriors begin the season January 24-27 at the Juco Kickoff Classic & Showcase in Madeira Beach, Florida. Will then return home for some non-conference games and then start the tough GRAC schedule.
