INA, Ill. (April 28, 2020) — Rend Lake College Sophomore Brock Willmes (Metropolis) was recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for his accomplishments during the 2019-20 season, earning an honorable mention spot on the Division II PING All-America Team.
The Golf Coaches Association of America announced the postseason accolades earlier this month. Willmes’ spring season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a strong showing in fall tournaments earned him recognition among his peers. He took first place at the Vincennes Invitational in September with rounds of 74 and 70. Later that month, Willmes placed 8th overall at the John A. Logan Fall Invitational.
RLC Head Golf Coach Jeremy May said Willmes was gaining momentum as the season moved along.
“He had put in a lot of work this winter and was looking ready for a great spring that unfortunately didn’t happen,” May said.
