INA, Ill. (March 3, 2020) — The Warriors are set to meet a familiar opponent in the first round of postseason play when the Rend Lake College men’s basketball team heads to East Peoria this week.

The Warriors take on Illinois Central College at 7 p.m. Wednesday at ICC in East Peoria for a first-round matchup in the National Junior College Athletic Conference’s DII Men's Basketball Central District Tournament.

The Warriors and Cougars met twice during the regular season and split the season series. RLC won the first matchup 82-56 at home in November. But the last time they traveled to ICC, the Warriors fell to the Cougars 84-75 on the road in December. Both teams finished the regular season with 13 wins — RLC at 13-17 and ICC at 13-15. The Warriors bring strong shooting to the floor, which helped the team average 80.8 points per game during the regular season. RLC has plenty of depth to work with too. Freshmen Amos Brooks, Courtland Soll, Keith Kiner, Hayden Thomas, Tyler Winchester, Nasan Ayala and Joshua Rivers all averaged scoring totals in double figures for the Warriors this season.

The Warriors hold the No. 5 seed in the tournament, while the Cougars are No. 4 and get to host the game. With a win on Wednesday, RLC would advance to play No. 1 seeded John Wood Community College at JWCC in Quincy. JWCC is the Central District Tournament host.
