About the tournament
James "Hummer" Waugh Gymnasium at Rend Lake College has been the site of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Boys and Girls Championship Tournaments since 1978. The tournament dates back to 1928 when it was played as sub-states at various locations in southern Illinois, particularly high schools.
The SIJHSAA Class L, M and S Girls Basketball State tournaments will be played in Waugh Gym. The games begin Jan. 19 and continue through Jan. 27.
