Vaughn earns All-Region honors

INA, Ill. (June 2, 2020) — After a successful year on the links, three golfers from Rend Lake College were selected for the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 24 All-Region Team.

Ryleigh Vaughn, along with Alex Sadler and Paige Hamel, was recently named to the Region 24 Team, which features golfers from schools throughout Southern and Central Illinois.

“These ladies are being recognized for being among the very best in their Region,” said RLC Women’s Head Golf Coach James Gray. “It is quite the honor to be selected to this team as it is voted on by all the coaches.”

The RLC Women’s Golf Team was able to compete in several tournaments in the fall before the season was cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this spring. However, the team was still able to put together a list of accomplishments in the truncated season.

Vaughn made a big leap from Year 1 to Year 2 and was the most improved golfer on the team, Gray said. She kicked off the season with two of the lowest rounds of her career (80 and 89) during the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational and would go on to place in the top-40 in the event. Vaughn will continue her golf career at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale next year.
